ABUSE VICTIM SUPPORT PROJECT RECEIVES QUEENS HONOURS.

AVS Project creates exhibition to celebrate 40 years of Luton Carnival.

The launch of “Luton Celebrates… Spirit of Carnival” exhibition celebrating 40 years of Luton International Carnival and Luton’s place in the history of manufacturing and industry.

On 9th June 2016, to coincide with the local press announcement of NINE RED Presents…(CIC) receiving the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) 2016; our AVS Project is launching “Luton Celebrates”, at Stockwood Discovery Centre, Luton, between 11am and 4pm.

This free entry exhibition is hosted by Luton Culture, is produced by the beneficiaries of our AVS Project working in partnership with The UKCCA (United Kingdom Centre for Carnival Arts), the LAM groups, and other local groups and is part funded by the Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation’s London Luton Airport Ltd. Fund.

This exhibition highlight the positive aspects of Luton and will be at the centre until July 2nd when HM Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Helen Nellis will present the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) 2016 to NINE RED Presents… (CIC) at the Discovery Centre at 1pm.

This event and the QAVS is a shining example of how ordinary people working together can achieve extraordinary things.  NRP use carnival and arts as therapy and their involvement in Luton International Carnival has proven to be very beneficial to the recovery of their clients.  This year their clients chose the carnival theme “Limitless” and the Queen’s Award shows them and the world that they truly are!
